The Arctic Resort

a speculative design project that imagines a luxury eco-resort emerging each summer in the rapidly warming Arctic
The project emerged from a critical question: As the Arctic becomes more accessible due to climate change, how can human activity be redirected for restorative, rather than destructive, ends? The North Pole is no longer an untouched wilderness—it’s now an active site of tourism, scientific exploration, extraction, and geopolitical tension. The Arctic is warming nearly four times faster than the global average, making it both a warning signal and a symbolic ground zero for the climate crisis.
Rather than simply critique this troubling reality, I ask: What if we leaned into it—absurdly, beautifully, and speculatively? What if future tourists came not just to admire the view, but to help the ice recover—whether it works or not?
