New Media Caucus features Shihan Zhang in its Symposium Spotlight, highlighting her work in speculative design and interactive media.

Since 2017, Zhang has used technology as a storytelling material, creating immersive experiences that invite audiences to engage with possible futures. Inspired by ecology, science, and cross-cultural perspectives, her work explores the tension between technological acceleration and planetary fragility.

At the symposium, she presents Econut, alongside a workshop and talk on more-than-human futures. She also shares her ongoing project The Department of Species Services (DSS), premiering at Gray Area in April 2026.
